Sportswoman
Factory: Meissen Porcelain Factory
Hard-paste porcelain, press-moulded, and glazed
Hard-paste porcelain, press-moulded, and glazed. The concave underside is glazed except for the outer edge. The base is roughly circular with a frilled and scrolled edge, a rock on the viewer's right, and at the back a moss-covered tree stump with two short branches on top, and a tall upward scroll encasing a cylindrical nozzle for an attachment. A spray of three roses and a bunch of berries is applied on the viewer's left of the top, and there is a single rose below on the front edge, and two more on the tree stump. The woman stands with her left foot resting on the rock, her right arm raised, and her left bent at the elbow with the hand resting on her bosom. Her head is turned to her left and she leans slightly in that direction. She wears a veil over her curly hair, a jacket over a bodice with a decolleté neckline, a long skirt, and shoes with bows on top. A bag is slung over her right shoulder and rests on her left hip
