Greyish-white glazed hard-paste porcelain
Greyish-white hard-paste porcelain, press-moulded, and glazed; the base made separately from the figure. The man stands on a circular base with a tree stump on the viewer's right. He steps forward on his left leg and leans forward, twisting his body to his right. He holds a bulbous jug with a strap handle and trilobate mouth with a small spike on either side of the lip, supporting its base with his left hand hand its lip with his right. The base is supported on a hollow waisted cylindrical pedestal moulded on the exterior with stylized leaves, and having a narrow gadrooned border at the top.
History note: Purchased at a shop in Rochester Row, Westminster, for 22s. 6d. on 19 May 1924 by Dr J.W.L. Glaisher, Trinity College, Cambridge

Attributed to Doccia by Rackham, but the construction of the base suggests that it was made at Le Nove in the Veneto.
