Description

Standing woman holding a muff, hard-paste porcelain, painted in enamels

Hard-paste porcelain, press-moulded, painted overglaze in pale blue, pale mauve, red, pale grey, and brown enamels. The unglazed undeside has a central, partially blocked circular ventilation hole. The woman stands with her feet very slightly apart, and looks towards her right. Her left hand is inside her muff, and her right arm and hand are over the top of it. She has pale grey long curling hair, red, lips and dark brown eyes, and wears a white hat shaped as an exaggerated mob cap with a red band round it, blue shoes, a white petticoat with pale mauve stripes, and a pale mauve coat with white fur trimming on the pocket openings and edges.
