Tin-glazed earthenware painted with scarlet and silver-yellow lustre
Earthenware, thrown, tin-glazed, and painted in scarlet and silvery-yellow reduced-pigment lustre. Circular with deep curved sides, standing on a high foot. The interior is decorated with broad brush strokes forming an abstract design; the exterior with a band of alternately broad and fine brush strokes creating a calligraphic effect. There are two horizontal bands round the foot
History note: Purchased from the potter at Aldermaston, Berkshire
