Description

Buff earthenware, tin-glazed greyish-white on both sides and painted in blue, yellow and orange. Convex circular fragment from the centre of a bowl or dish. Painted with the Cross (without the figure of Christ) and three stylised figures: one at the foot of the Cross and one on either side. Border of two concentric circles with stripes between them.

Notes

History note: Found in Orvieto. Collection of Signor Avvocato Marcioni or Cavaliere Capitano Lucatelli; purchased from Fenton, Cranbourne St., shortly after the sale at Sotheby's on 16-17 February, 1914, but not included in it.
