Description

Jasper, white with pale blue dip and white reliefs; glazed interior. Of depressed globular form with upward curved spout, loop handle, and steeply domed cover with a mushroom-shaped knob with central hole. One side is decorated from left to right with a woman holding a staff accompanied by Cupid, two women on either side of a tree, and another tree; the other side is decor¬ated with a plant, a tree, a putto blowing a small horn, two women bearing respective¬ly a long wavy horn and a dish of fruit, a woman seated beside a tree, and a plant. There are wreaths of laurel round the junction of the spout and body and the upper junction of the handle. The cover has a border of acanthas and smooth-edged leaves radiating from a raised band.
