Description

Fritware painted in blue under a transparent glaze

Fritware, wheel thrown, painted in blue under a transparent glaze
Shape: rolled rim and straight neck descending via a carination onto a cylindrical body, sits on a foot ring.
Exterior: the neck is painted with a zig-zag pattern painted in reserve against a blue background. On the body, vertical panels containing cable patterns, also painted in reserve against a blue background, are separated by white bands. The foot ring is painted with a single concentric line and is unevenly covered with glaze, leaving the vessel fabric visible in small areas.
Interior: undecorated except for glaze.
