Description

Slip-coated earthenware streaked with manganese-brown under lead-glaze

Red earthenware, covered with white slip and streaked with manganese-brown under yellowish lead-glaze. A large bird resembling a pigeon is perched on a conical base from which project two horizontal perches with four smaller birds upon them. The pigeon's tail is pierced to form the mouthpiece of a whistle or hooter.
