Production: Unidentified Staffordshire factory
White salt-glazed stoneware plate decorated in scratch blue with flowering plants and the initials 'H B'
White stoneware, press-moulded, decorated in scratch blue technique, and salt-glazed. Circular with a wavy, alternately curved and indented edge (silver shape), broad rim, shallow sloping sides and flat centre. The rim is moulded in relief with six panels of the seed or barley corn pattern. The well is decorated in scratch-blue with two different flowering plants perhaps chrysanthemum and peony, placed asymetrically with between them the initials 'H B'.
