Description

Fritware painted in black, blue and turquoise under a clear glaze

Fritware, probably wheel thrown, painted in black, blue and turquoise under a clear glaze.
Shape: irregular fragment sitting on a narrow, low foot ring
Interior: on the base, in a roundel contained by two black concentric lines, a spotted hare is outlined in black against a blue background containing turquoise and white rounded leaves. A series of vertical friezes radiate from the roundel but these are barely visible due to the breakage of the vessel.
Exterior: thick black concentric lines are visible on the lower body. The glaze runs unevenly over this surface, at times reaching the foot ring.
