Description

White salt-glazed stoneware with impressed and mould-applied decoration

White stoneware, with impressed and mould-applied decoration, and salt-glaze. The teapot has a globular body supported by three lion's mask and paw feet. It has a cylindrical neck, a long curved spout moulded with scrolled stems, and a handle moulded in the from of a dragon. The circular cover has reeded sides, and an almost flat top with a replacement bird knob (possibly in place of a lion). The shoulder of the pot is decorated with small mould-applied reliefs of rosettes, leaves, and bunches of grapes. Below there is a continuous pattern of impressed vertical lines forming triangular and arched motifs.
