Description

Fritware painted in black under a turquoise glaze

Buff fritware, probably wheel thrown, painted in black under a turquoise glaze and with a blue glazed rim
Shape: T-shaped rim with straight neck on a conical bowl and low foot ring.
Interior: on the base an eight pointed cross radiates from the central point developing into four arabesques on the body, both are adorned with fleur de-lis and pointed leaves. This design is delimited by a concentric band on the upper body. All decoration is painted in black.
Exterior: on the body a repeating, vertical water weed pattern is painted in black. Glaze runs unevenly over the lower body and foot ring leaving some areas uncovered.
