Description

White stoneware, press-moulded, and salt-glazed

Off-white stoneware, press-moulded and salt-glazed. Circular with deep curved sides, standing on a footring. The decoration on the inside is in relief. In the middle there is a circular medallion enclosing a bird walking to the right with its head turned towards its back, surrounded by a wide latticework border. This is surrounded by eight panels separated by radiating lines, containing respectively: a huntsman with a hound, Danae amongst clouds over a unicorn, Cupid riding a lion with a swan below; a winged figure and an animal with a swan on its back over a heart flanked by figures; a fleeing figure and ? Cupid; a tea party scene with a large teapot or kettle below; a spread eagle; and a stag , a bird and a shield of arms.
