Description

Earthenware coated in a white slip painted black and blue under a turquoise glaze

Earthenware, wheel thrown, coated in a white slip, painted in black and blue under a crazed and pitted turquoise glaze
Shape: T-shaped rim on a segmental bowl with a low foot ring
Interior: rim is painted with black dashes and bands. On the neck a frieze of black comma shapes are separated by blue vertical lines and enclosed within a set of black concentric lines. A roughly painted blue cross radiates from the base over the body; between the arms a floral garland is painted in black with a blue central flower. A scar on the base indicates the use of a tripod stacking devise in the kiln.
Exterior: a black scrolling line on the neck. Glaze runs over the neck to a point on the upper body; the white slip covers the upper body with traces over the lower body.
