Description

Cylindrical hard-paste porcelain temple vase, painted underglaze in blue, formerly part of a pair. Thickly potted, flaring towards the mouth and slightly flaring towards the convex splayed foot, with a flat recessed glazed base. Below the mouth is a ruji-head border, and a triangle-work border encircles the foot above a double line border.
Decorated externally with vases on tables (one holding a piece of coral and two peacock feathers), stands for scrolls and vessels for holding water with spoons, surrounded by the Eight Precious Things, bangles and coins. Painted in early Kangxi style
A written inscription appears on one side within a rectangular double line border with acanthus leaves at the top, and a lotus flower at the bottom, which reads: "The Faithful believe Wang Chien I happily gives a pair of incense vases before the Buddha at Heavenly Pillar Peak. May they give eternal service. The ninth year of Qianlong, the last month of summer"

Large star crack across the base, chip to the foot rim, hair crack rising from the foot
