Production: Unidentified Staffordshire Potter
Dark cream-coloured earthenware painted in black and red enamels, and gilded. The ovoid pot has a band of impressed slanting lines around the middle, a crabstock handle and spout, and a circular, slightly domed cover with a ball-shaped knob. One side of the body is painted with a bust of Queen Charlotte, flanked by stylized foliage, titled below on a scroll, 'Queen Charlotte' with a crown between the words; and on the other side, is a church with a spire flanked by stylized foliage, and with further sprays below the impressed band. On the lid there are two sprays of stylized foliage. The impressed slanting lines are gilded.
