Cock
Production: Unidentified Staffordshire Pottery
Solid dark brown and white agateware, with a white head, press-moulded in the shape of a cock (or perhaps a hen), with dark brown slip eyes, eight splashes of blue on the sides, and salt-glaze. The cock is standing upright on an oval base which is hollow underneath.
History note: An unidentified collector in Stoke-on-Trent; sold to Mr F. L. Furphey of Oakwood, Priory Road, Sale, from whom purchased for £12 on 1 October 1910 by Dr J.W.L. Glaisher, FRS, Trinity College, Cambridge
