Coloured glazed figures were made by Ralph Wood II after his return to Burslem from Bristol in 1782, and after his death in 1795 probably by his son Ralph Wood III. His brother John Wood's sales ledger covering the years 1783-7 indicates the he probably made and sold figures of this type, as well as purchasing them for resale from Ralph. It is not possible to attribute this greyhound specifically, and it could have been made by another potter in the area.
