Officer on horseback
Production: Unidentified Staffordshire factory (Probably)
Cream earthenware painted underglaze in brown, yellow and grey. A cavalry officer on a rearing horse.
Cream, earthenware, press-moulded, and painted in yellow, brown, and grey under lead-glaze. The underside is open and shows the hollow interior which is glazed. The group is supported on a shallow rectangular of ground. The horse is shown rearing in profile to left and the mounted officer turns his head towards the viewer. He wears a brown plumed helmet and has a sword suspended on his left side. The rider, horse and supporting area between its legs are randomly dabbed with yellow, blue and grey.
