Potter: Unknown
Frtiware coated in grey painted with white slip and black under a colourless glaze
Fritware, wheel thrown, coated in grey, painted with white slip and black pigment, covered with a colourless glaze
Shape: carinated bowl with âTâ shaped rim, sits on a narrow foot ring
Interior: rim is painted black with dotted, narrow concentric lines of white. The remaining decoration is painted in white slip and outlined in black on a grey ground containing black dashes. On the body a frieze of flying phoenix and lobbed cartouche are surrounded by curled leaves. In the roundel, a stag is painted on a similar background, which also contains a lotus flower. Glaze pools in the base, partially obscuring the decoration in the roundel.
Exterior: on the neck a pseudo calligraphic band is painted in the same technique as on the interior body. On the body, imitating a lotus petal design, white arcading is outlined in black and contains a dotted black line. Glaze covers the surface except for the rim of the foot ring.
