Boy with Cock
Production: Unidentified Staffordshire factory
Lead-glazed earthenware figure of a boy holding a cock painted in polychrome enamels
White earthenware, moulded, covered with very slightly blue tinted lead-glaze, and painted in blue, green, yellow, flesh pink, red, reddish-brown, brown and black enamels. The underside of the square, straight-sided base is glazed and has a large circular ventilation hole in the middle. Its exterior is decorated with a reddish-brown line .The boy stands with his right leg advanced on a green and brown mound. He has short brown hair and wears a white robe with blue spots and a green edge draped over his left shoulder and around the lower part of his body. He holds a yellow and red cockerel with a black beak under his right arm.
