Fritware with open-work decoration, covered in a white glaze

Fritware, wheel thrown with carved open-work decoration, covered in a white glaze
Shape: hemispherical bowl, with slightly everted rim, sits on a low foot ring
Interior: carved cable pattern forms open-work decoration on the body. Glaze pools slightly in the base where it is cracked.
Exterior: pierced from the interior, as a result of open-work decoration. Glaze runs over the surface and partially covers the foot ring.

Inscription present: Rectangular paper label with serrated edge around bottom and right hand edge, a black rectangular border printed around the edge

  • Text: 'Lent by' (printed); Brangwyn' (typed) '125' (hand written), on the upper right hand side smaller hand written pencil ‘52’ (crossed through) and ‘59’
