Production: Unidentified Frechen pottery
Salt-glazed stoneware with applied bearded face mask and oval medallion with three flowers springing from a heart bearing the Sacred Monogram
Grey stoneware, thrown, with applied handle and moulded decoration, coated with iron-brown wash, and salt-glazed. The jug has an elongated bulbous body contracting into a short narrow neck with cordons round the mouth, and a small loop handle. On the front of the neck is a bearded face mask in relief, and below it an oval medallion with a raised edge enclosing three flowers springing from a heart bearing the Sacred Monogram, IHS as IH joined with S over.
