Description

Tin-glazed earthenware painted in blue

Pinkish-buff earthenware, thrown, tin-glazed and painted in blue. The circular salt pan has an everted edge, and is supported on a wider conical foot. The inside of the salt pan is decorated with a flower on a stalk surrounded by foliage, and encircled by two narrow concentric circles and a wider band on the rim. The foot is decorated with a broad blue band at the top, with two spaced narrow bands below, a border of alternating leaves (or petals) and strokes, and a narrow band close to the edge.
