Description

Greyish buff earthenware, partly covered on the exterior with a greenish-brown lead glaze. The jug is ear shaped with a flat base.The loop handle is grooved, and has a thumb impression at each end.

Notes

History note: Dug up at unknown site in Hildersham (Cambs). Hildersham Rectory Sale, Cambridgeshire; purchased by Mr Bird of Saffron Walden for 12s. 6d.; purchased from him on November 19th 1910 for 15s. 0d. by Dr J.W.L. Glaisher, FRS, Trinity College, Cambridge
