Hard-paste porcelain painted in iron-red, aubergine and three green enamels of soft washed tones. The small dish has shallow rounded sides springing from a low slightly tapered foot and rising to a narrow flattened rim. The interior well is painted with a naturalistic design of a bird perched on the slender branch of a fruiting peach tree. The rim is encircled with a cell-diaper band in pale iron-red reserved with four cartouches enclosing the characters 'wan shou wu qiang' - 'A myriad longevities without end', the imperial birthday greeting - interspersed with pairs of flowrheads.
