Description

Hard-paste porcelain green-backed dish, painted in enamel colours. The shallow dish has flared sides gently angled above the low tapered foot. The interior is delicately painted with a bearded figure, wearing cream coloured robes edged with dark blue, pink and pale turquoise, standing with his right elbow resting on a large purple wine jar. This is placed on a long rectangular blue marble table beside a cup and a scroll, a wooden stool in front and a blue storage jar behind. The figure may represent Libe, the 'drunken poet' of the Tang Dynasty.
The underside is painted with a mottled pale mint green enamel.
Mark: Six character mark of Yongzheng within a double circle in underglaze blue.

Repairs have been made with gold lacquer.
