Hard-paste porcelain teapot and cover, with a squat globular body, painted in rich enamel colours. Decorated with three leaf shaped vignettes, each enclosing a cock standing amonst peonies, and a circular medallion of flowers and fruits encircling the base of the spout. All reserved on a pink cell-diaper ground beneath a pale green trellis band.
The edge of the domed cover has a pale green trellis band, and pink sprays of peony and camellia flank the conical knop.
History note: According to the Cunliffe Catalogue, this item was purchased 02/02/1918 at Dickenson (104 New Bond Street, London W1)
