Earthenware, tin-glazed pale cream overall. Painted in bright blue, pale green, yellow, orange, and manganese-purple. The colours have run.
Globular body standing on a spreading foot; slender neck with a swelling below the rim and a curved spout springing from the shoulder.
The body is encircled by two sprays of stylised foliage, each with two flowers, which spring from either side of an upright stem on the back of the jar. The background is blue. Below, there are yellow and pale green horizontal bands, each between narrow manganese bands; on the foot and on the mouth, a yellow band between manganese bands. The spout has three yellow and manganese scalloped horizontal stripes.
History note: Palermo, where purchased on 29 April 1904 by Dr J.W.L. Glaisher (Typed Cat. 2090).
