Description

Fragment of dish rim. Pale buff earthenware, tin-glazed on both sides. Painted in dark blue, yellow and orange.
Triangular fragment with curved outer edge.
Part of a blue medallion containing the upper part of the head of a man wearing a bandeau. Above, an area of orange ground and a blue scroll or stem enclosing yellow ground. The edge is yellow. On the reverse, part of a blue petal, transversly striped in orange, and three triangular lines enclosing blue dots. 'Petal back' type.

Notes

History note: Probably found near the Duomo in Orvieto, where purchased by the donor.
