Pale buff earthenware, tin-glazed on both sides. Painted in blue and green. Four-sided fragment of a dish rim including a short distance of outer edge. On the front, part of a trellis and leaf design, with on the edge, a broad blue band with short slanting strokes of darker blue over it. On the reverse is part of a foliage design in green, outlined in blue.
History note: Found in Perugia. One of a group of sherds, acquired by R.C. Bosanquet accompanied by a label stating: ‘Mostly bought at Orvieto; some pieces, marked P on the back, from Perugia. The Orvieto pieces, with a few exceptions, were found in excavating foundations for houses near Cathedral.’
