Description

Buff earthenware, coated in white slip, painted in blue and yellow, and covered with a blue-tinted, semi-translucent glaze. Approximately D-shaped, fragment of a shallow bowl or plate with about half of the centre and curved sides, standing on a concave base. On the front, a blue Cupid stands holding a bow in his left hand, surrounded by a small area of yellow background close to his body. The glaze has crazed.

History note: Acquired in Northern Italy between 1908-1910, probably in Bologna, by Richard Sneade Brown (1851-1917) of, Heathcote, Worthing
