Clockwise, from upper left: front view of female head, eyes downcast, head tilted slightly downwards and to the left (pen and ink with brown wash, and traces of white, over graphite underdrawing); front-right study of a female head and shoulders, head tilted slightly downwards with eyes downcast, hair in plaits (pen and brown ink, brown wash, corrections in white, over graphite underdrawing); outline sketch, frontal view of female head, tilted slightly to right with eyes downcast (pen and ink over graphite underdrawing); left hand holding a piece of drapery (pen and brown ink over graphite underdrawing); female head with hair tied up in braids, eyes downcast head tilted slightly downwards, to right (pen and brown ink with brown wash over graphite underdrawing); female head and neck, in profile to right, tilted slightly to left and backwards, with hair arranged in knotted braids behind (pen and brown ink with red chalk over graphite underdrawing).
