Soft-paste porcelain, with clear glaze and dry edge, of a huntsman playing a flute to a lady who is seated beside him holding a sheet of music.
Creamy-white soft-paste porcelain of a huntsman playing a flute to a lady, slip-cast, with clear lead-glaze, and dry edge. The unglazed underside has a circular ventilation hole in the middle. The oval base has a low rock running across the back which rises up to form a seat on the viewer's left, and has an applied bud and leaves beside it. In the middle there is a circular hole to take an attachment. The huntsman sits on the rock with his left leg forward and right stretched out behind him. He leans forward and originally held a flute in his raised hands. He wears a jockey cap, shirt with ruffles at the cuffs, a waistcoat, jacket, knee breeches, and buckled shoes. The lady reclines on the rock with her legs to the viewer's right, and leans towards the huntsman, placing her right hand on his left shoulder, and holding out a piece of music in her left hand. She wears a round frilled cap, a kerchief, and a bodice and skirt, with an apron, and buckled shoes. .
