  • Text: Bought from L.R. Nightingal, Felm Hill, Norwich for £5. April 1937 / Mr. Nightingale told me that his was one of five drawings found / wrapped round an old walking-stick bought by an acquaintance of his / at a sale in Ipswich, one of which (not this) had the name / and address of John Crome on the back. He thought it to be a / copy of Gainsborough by Crome. H. Gatty. (check this inscription as artist's file is ambiguous)
