Acquisition and important dates

Method of acquisition: Bequeathed (1816) by Richard, 7th Viscount Fitzwilliam of Merrion

Note

Titlepage dated 1804, 'portrait page' dated 1803. Signs of erased graphite lettering on the latter. Contains 137 prints (including an additional no. -1). Evidence throughout of prints being stuck down and then moved, perhaps explaining the two dates at the beginning of the album. Some leaves watermarked 'E&P 1802' (Evlet & Pine), e.g. for -105 & -106, and -131
