With a memoir by Fritz Kredel and a preface by Warren Chappell. Photoreprint of the 1934 ed. published by Insel-Verlag, Leipzig, with new prefatory material in English. "The twenty-four decorative alphabets presented in this little book were first written by Koch and Berthold Wolpe, his co-worker in calligraphy, and then cut in wood and lead by Fritz Kredel and Gustav Eichenauer"-- preface.

With special dedication and message to John Dreyfus from Warren Chappell.

"... conceived and designed by Warren Chappell has been printed at The Meriden Gravure Company on Mohawk Superfine paper. The type, set by Finn Typographic Service, is Trajanus, designed by Mr. Chappell for D. Stempel A.G. in 1939. The book has been bound by Robert Burlen & Son. The facsimile plates were made from a copy of DAS ABC BÜCHLEIN in Rudolf Koch's personal library through the courtesy of the Klingspor-Museum. ... 1000 copies for David R. Godine; 300 copies for the Merrion Press; 650 copies for The Friends of the Klingspor-Museum; 550 copies for The Typophiles as Chap Book Fifty-Three"-- Colophon.
