  • Text: Un Apenzellois, nommé Ulrich-Rotach, poursuivit dans un combat les Autrichiens avec tant de chaleur qu'il s'éloigna de ses camarades, / & se vit entouré dans le Rhinthal, par un peloton de douze ennemis auprès d un chalet. Dans cette position désespérée, Rotach s'a / =dossa contre le chalet, étendit avec sa hallebarde cinq Allemands morts à ses pieds, tandis que les autres mettaient le feu à ce bâtiment; / il continua derriere cet espéce de parapet, à se défendre contre les sept restants avec une valeur héroïque jusqu' à-ce qu'il fut aveuglé par la fumée, & écrasé par la chute du toit embrasé.
