Note

The chair resembles a set designed by Sir John Soane for the Governor's room in the Bank of England, made in 1809 by David Bruce. The leading Neo-classical architect of his day, Soane’s most important surviving buildings include the Dulwich Picture Gallery and Mausoleum, and his own home in Lincoln’s Inn Fields, London, now a museum.
