Musical bows

Scope note

Simple zitherlike chordophones found worldwide, consisting of a flexible stick curved by the tension of a string or, rarely, several strings, stretched between its ends, with or without a detachable resonator. Different types are plucked, struck, bowed, blown upon, or played by a combination of methods.
