Coupés (carriages)

Scope note

Use for reduced-size coaches, generally having curved fronts, designed for compactness or to improve appearance yet retaining the elegance of the original, larger enclosed vehicles. For smaller, low-hung coaches, built generally with straight fronts and not based on larger prototypes, especially in the United States in the late 19th century, use "broughams."
