Heart, by Kate Malone

An image of Studio Ceramics. Heart. Malone, Kate (British, b.1959). White earthenware (T Material), moulded, and hand-coiled, decorated with coloured glazes, and fired several times to create crazed or cellular effects: the exterior, dark blue and pale green; the interior, orange and yellow; and the rim, pale blue and orange. In the shape of a rounded heart sliced in half, with round the top edge, a roll of clay which extends at the pointed end into a tightly coiled scroll. There are three stilt marks on the base. Height (whole) 17.5 cm, length (whole) 39.1 cm, width 28.2 cm, 2001. Gift of Nicholas and Judith Goodison through the National Art Collections Fund.
