Description

Band sampler, linen, embroidered with polychrome silks in cross, double back, herringbone and hemstitch. The sampler is divided into horizontal bands and features repeat border patterns, detached motifs, an alphabet, numerals 1-10, and line edging border patterns in the upper section. The lower section comprises more detached motifs including a dog, numerals, repeat border patterns, crowns and coronets, Roman numerals I-XII and a wreath with the initials 'EL'.
