Description

White earthenware, transfer-printed underglaze in brown and painted in pink, green, brown, and maroon enamels. Circular with sloping rim, shallow well and flat base. Decorated with 'Brown Water Lily' pattern with 'Botanical' border and a maroon band on edge.

Note

This design was a revival of no. 495 in the first Pattern Book, described as 'Brown printed Water Lily which was introduced in 1806-07 and from 1811 in underglaze blue. It was revived, probably in the late 1890s.
