Tortoise-shell set with two miniatures: in the lid of roses, and in the base of classical figures
Tortoise-shell set with two miniatures, mounted under glass in gilt metal. The circular box has straight sides and a slightly domed pull-off lid with gilt metal rim mounts. The miniature in the lid (by Jan Frans van Dael) in bodycolour on paper, depicts a basket of pink roses on a marble slab. The miniature on the base (by François Jean Garnerey) in grisaille on ivory, depicts five Classical figures and a dog.
