Description

Wood frame, gessoed, and painted brown over gilding. The top inset with a scagliola panel of an Italian landscape with figures within a narrow brass frame

Notes

History note: Acquired in Florence c. 1835 by the donor’s great-grandmother’s brother, Francis Worship, who was a friend of Wellington, and Mayor of Great Yarmouth. He bequeathed the table to his sister, Jane Worship (a pupil of Cotman), Miss Vaux’s great grand-mother, from who it descended to Miss Vaux
