Description

Hard paste porcelain teapot and cover painted in blue, green, red, yellow and black enamel colours. There are gilt metal mounts on the foot, cover and end of the spout which has a stopper attached by a safety chain to the knob. The teapot is decorated with panels of a phoenix flying above peonies on each side, separated by karakusa scrolls, a dentate border on the shoulder and a floral spray on the handle and spout. A karakusa scroll is repeated on the cover which has a circular flat-topped finial
