Interior of a hall
Painter: Gyselaer, Nicolaes de
The hall has a marble slabbed floor, wood beamed ceiling, and red gilt-leather wall hangings. There is a bi-coloured marble fireplace and doorway, held up by classic herms and caryatids. The room is decorated with two landscape paintings by the door, a silver vase filled with flowers, and brass firedogs in the hearth.
By the door, a man is receiving a letter, in the corner are some musicians, and a woman and her servant are in conversation. There is also an uncaged parrot by the window, two dogs in the middle of the room, and a cat by the fireplace.
