Description

Metal etui covered in black leather set with gold studs

Metal, leather and gold; of oval section with tapering sides and hinged lid. The metal etui is covered with ten panels of black leather (four round the lid, four round the body and one at either end) which are studded with small gold dots and flowerheads to form a decorative pattern of scrolls. Round the top and bottom of the lid and base and between the leather panels are moulded gold mounts; those on the centre front and back are engraved with a band of diaperwork and scrolls. The centre of the slightly domed lid is set with an oval gold plaque embossed with thee flowerheads and scrolls. The catch and fittings are missing.
