Description

Gilt metal set with a miniature in bodycolour, probably on card, and mounted under glass. The oval box has straight sides and a flat lid with projecting hinge. The miniature is set across the centre of the lid. The red gilt metal lid, base and sides are engraved with panels of engine-turned basket-work within yellow gold borders of husks on a matted ground. The miniature depicts two figures, one possible fishing, in a rural landscape with cottage, lake and village in the background.
